The University of Michigan's Solar Car Team knows all about winning. Five-time American Solar Challenge Champions, the team has placed third in the World Solar Challenge three times. In 2007, with a groundbreaking design and a seasoned race crew, team members traveled to the Outback of Australia confident they would come home with the champion's trophy. Then, the unthinkable happened.
